The Virtual Assistant’s Survival Kit

After working from home as a Virtual Assistant for over 10 years now, there are certain things that I have learned that I simply cannot live without. So whether you are just getting started on your work from home adventure yourself or you are looking to onboard additional team members and thinking of ways to show your gratitude by sending some thank you gifts, here are some items that you will always find in my work space whether I’m working from a coffee shop, my camper in the mountains or my backyard in the sun. My traveling work space always has to have these non-negotiable items…

Click the following titles for a link to these items on Amazon.com that I have carefully selected and do receive a commission for recommending:

A sturdy phone holder

Wherever I set up my work station for the day, I always need to have my phone se up where I can see it easily and be able to access it handsfree. It makes it so much easier for me to work. So, I highly recommend having a sturdy, handsfree phone holder handy to help maximize the efficiency of your workspace no matter where you are or what you are working on.

A large water bottle

Stay hydrated while you work with a motivational, huge gallon sized water bottle! Fill it up in the morning and have water to drink all day long! Did you know that your brain is made up of mostly water?! So, drinking enough water every day is crucial to help you think clearly, focus and concentrate. Drinking enough water is also important for things like flushing toxins and promoting weight loss which can help you be the healthiest version of yourself, so drink up!

A monthly planner

In such a digital age, I still recommend keeping your appointments written down the old fashioned way, in a planner. Even if you have everything online, I still think it’s good practice to have it all recorded somewhere that can be accessed even when the electricity goes out or you cannot access the internet. I also like to have a place to write down birthdays, anniversaries, passwords, and other private information that I can keep all together in one place that I can keep safe. My planner never leaves my house and I always know exactly where it is and I don’t need a power source to access it. I guess I’m just an old fashioned girl at heart.

A notepad

I always have to have a few legal pads near me! I have been known to have one designated for each client or each new project to make it easier to keep track of my thoughts. So, I tend to buy packages of legal pads like this one and keep them handy so I can always be ready with a fresh pad of paper when a new client or a new project pops up! When I finish a project, I tear off the pages used during that project and either file them in a folder or toss them depending on what that project requires, but taking notes by hand has become essential to keep my thoughts straight while I’m juggling multiple clients with multiple needs.

A trustworthy gel pen

When you find a pen you love, you stock up on them and hide a bunch where no one else in your family can find them. Well, these are my find! Grab a pack of these amazing pens and stash them away so you always have them on hand. I’ve tried all kinds, but these are my fav!

If a client sent me a gift with any combination of these items in it, I would quite possibly cry and I would definitely go the extra mile for them. Throw in a Starbucks gift card and they would win the title of favorite client because you know I love me a cup of amazing coffee!
