Some Deeper Interview Questions to Consider Asking Potential Virtual Assisting Candidates

When you’ve found a few Virtual Assistant candidates to interview, you could begin by asking some basic questions like:

Virtual assistant interview
  • What is your previous experience?

  • What office equipment and software do you have?

  • What timezone are you in and what hours are you available?

Those are important questions to get answered and I definitely suggest gathering that information. But, I also suggest diving deeper and asking some questions like this:

  • What do you consider your core values?

  • How do you handle a situation when you may not know how to complete a task?

  • How do you prioritize tasks and manage your work day?

  • Why do you want to work from home?

  • What are your weaknesses and strengths?

These questions will give you a better understanding of the person that is running the business. It’s important to understand a bit about who you will be working with, not just the skill set that fits the bill.

If you really want to know if someone will be a good fit, give them an honest and typical scenario that will likely pop up in your daily business and listen to their response with an open mind. Give them an opportunity to show you who they are with their reply, and make sure and believe them when they reveal themselves, good, bad, or otherwise. Skill sets are very important, but personality and demeanor are just as vital.

Take a moment to consider what personality types you work well with, and what types don’t present a good match for you. You have the opportunity to bring on people who will support you as you make your business dreams come true. And remember that at the same time, your Virtual Team is making their own dreams come true by being able to prosperously work from home.
